Meraas unveils Dubai Design District residential masterplan

Meraas, a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has announced an expanded residential masterplan for the Dubai Design District (d3), transforming it into a premier creative-led waterfront neighbourhood. The development, spanning 18 million square feet, is strategically located between Downtown Dubai and Dubai Creek Harbour. It aims to bolster Dubai's reputation as a global hub for design, innovation, and culture, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

The masterplan's centrepiece, the Design Line, is a pedestrian-first spine featuring public art, creative installations, and landscaped green corridors, promoting a walkable, human-centric environment. This initiative is set to enhance d3's identity as a design-forward urban neighbourhood.

The neighbourhood will comprise five distinct areas. Along the canal, contemporary residences and boutique hospitality will be introduced, complemented by an activated waterfront promenade. The urban core will integrate residential spaces with curated retail and dining options, enhancing d3's established creative ecosystem. A cultural hub will feature performance venues and mid-rise residences, whilst a wellness-focused area will offer parks and sports facilities. The final area will support creativity with galleries, studios, and loft-style spaces.

Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, stated, "Expanding the Dubai Design District masterplan into a fully integrated creative neighbourhood is a significant step in advancing the ambitions of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33."

This enhanced masterplan aims to position d3 as a globally relevant neighbourhood, where creativity shapes everyday life and attracts the world's creative community.
