Mummies of the World: The Exhibition is making its final stop at the California Science Centre in Los Angeles, opening on 7 February 2026.
This marks the last opportunity for visitors to explore the world-renowned collection of over 30 human and animal mummies from South America, Europe, and ancient Egypt. The exhibition, produced by World Heritage Exhibitions, includes new specimens never before seen in Los Angeles.
The exhibition delves into the science of mummification, showcasing naturally and intentionally preserved mummies from diverse environments such as glaciers, deserts, and European crypts. Visitors will learn about ancient preservation methods from cultures like Egypt and Peru, as well as modern medical studies. Highlights include 18th-century medical mummies, two mummified Egyptian priests, and two ancient Peruvian bundle mummies making their West Coast debut.
Jeffrey Rudolph, President and CEO of the California Science Centre, expressed excitement about the exhibition's return, stating, "We are thrilled to give our guests one last opportunity to explore these extraordinary specimens using modern science."
Timed entry tickets are required for the exhibition, which will be displayed in the Weingart Foundation Special Exhibits Gallery. Visitors can also enhance their experience with the IMAX movie, Mummies 3D: Secrets of the Pharaohs, which complements the exhibition by exploring the history and science of mummification.
Tickets for the exhibition and the IMAX movie are available online, by phone, or at the Science Centre box office. Combination tickets offer a complete experience for both the exhibition and the movie. The California Science Centre, located in Exposition Park, offers free general admission and is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
