New lounge opens at Kingston Airport

A new departure lounge has opened at Kingston Airport forluxury travellers. The new 5,000 square foot lounge matches its sister in MontegoBay Airport and is also holding a heritage and culture exhibition for users tosee. It will be free of charge to business and first class passengers of BA,Virgin, air berlin and Condor. Facilities include fast-track check-in,unlimited Wi-Fi and a bar.
“With Jamaica celebrating its 50thAnniversary of Independence next year, people with Jamaican heritage,frommarkets such as the UK, are planning on reconnecting with the island by way ofa visit to their ancestral heritage. Already, as a result of this, Diasporavisitor arrival figures into Kingston have risen by 12%,” said Elizabeth Fox,regional director of UK and Northern Europe for Jamaica Tourist Board. “Also,British Airways are increasing their airlift into Kingston Airport to threetimes a week meaning we will have the capacity to support this increase invisitor figures moving forward into 2012”.
