Olympia, a historic venue in London, is set to host the UK's inaugural Premier Padel P1 tournament from 4 to 9 August, as part of the 2026 Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour. This event marks a significant milestone for Olympia, following its extensive £1.3 billion redevelopment into a premier destination for events, entertainment, and business.
The tournament will feature the world's top padel players, showcasing the sport's growing popularity in Britain. Recent data from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) indicates that padel participation has more than doubled, with 860,000 engaged players by the end of 2025, up from 400,000 in 2024. The number of padel courts has also increased significantly, with 1,553 courts across 559 venues by the end of 2025.
Stewart Hosford, CEO of Sela International, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "Olympia stood out to us as the ideal venue to deliver Premier Padel P1 London. The scale, heritage, and connectivity of the venue give us the perfect platform to deliver this event in a way that reflects our global standards."
Gareth Lloyd, Business Development Director at Olympia Events, highlighted the importance of the tournament, saying it reinforces Olympia's ambition to become a global destination for culture and live entertainment.
