Oman Air is set to expand its network with the introduction of a direct flight service to Sochi, Russia, commencing on 2 July 2026. This new route will operate weekly throughout the year, providing seamless access to the Black Sea resort city, known as the 'Russian Riviera', and its blend of seaside resorts and mountain scenery.
The addition of Sochi to Oman Air's destinations is part of the airline's strategy to strengthen its Russia network, which already includes up to 11 weekly flights between Moscow and Muscat, as well as charter flights between Moscow and Salalah. This expansion responds to the increasing demand from Russian travellers visiting Oman and aims to position Oman as a primary destination, boosting tourism revenue and supporting related sectors.
Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, stated, โThe launch of Sochi builds on the strong performance of our Moscow services and reflects growing point-to-point demand between Russia and Oman. By expanding access to Oman through strategically added destinations, we are actively supporting tourism growth and contributing to Omanโs broader economic diversification goals.โ
The Muscat-Sochi route will be serviced by Oman Air's Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, known for their premium onboard experience. This development not only enhances bilateral connectivity but also reinforces Omanโs appeal as an accessible destination in the region
