“Light the flames of passion” with akyra Beach Club Phuket

Akaryn Hotel Group, the hospitality company with a portfolio of boutique luxury hotels and resorts across Thailand, is sharing the love with a series of unique wedding proposal experiences for couples to use at akyra Beach Club Phuket, located just a 30-minute drive north of Phuket International Airport. The group’s creative operations team has come up with a selection of magical moments that are all about popping the question in a decidedly different but still supremely romantic style with ideas such as a floating proposal, or integrating a fire-juggling show on the beach. "Creativity runs through everything we do" Anchalika Kijkanakorn, founder and managing director of the Akaryn Hotel Group, said: “A strong sense of creativity runs through everything we do at akyra Beach Club Phuket, from the room designs to our culinary concepts, from aqua gym to beach parties. We decided it would also be fun to give proposals of marriage a contemporary twist." To light the flames of passion, couples can arrange for a private fire dance to accompany a romantic dining experience for two on the soft sands of Natai Beach. The climax of the performance is a dramatic marriage proposal presented with the words “Marry Me” lit with flames by staff hidden aboard a fishing boat sitting on the sand. Another option for lovebirds is to make an original proposal during a private sunset cocktail and dinner on the pool deck of their private villa. The chef prepares a special selection of mouth-watering dishes to make the evening a gourmet delight, and the food is further enhanced with a fun romantic proposal when the staff secretly float a giant inflatable diamond towards the couple’s poolside table, fitted with a painted sign that says “Would you marry me?”. To further take advantage of the stunning seaside location, romantic hopefuls staying in one of the private beachfront villas can ask the resort staff to arrange for a local fisherman’s boat to pass slowly by in the waters that front the resort. When the fishermen lift their net out of the water, the words “Will You Marry Me” appear on a large piece of driftwood as an unforgettable catch of the day. Once it’s a “yes”, couples can start planning their return to akyra Beach Club Phuket for the “big event”, which can kick off with a stylish bachelor and bachelorette beach party with live DJs, performances and crafted cocktails. After a day or two to recover, they can then arrange a memorable marriage ceremony by the sea with a choice of picture-perfect locations for 1 to 100 guests. The chef takes guests on an exciting journey into Asian flavours, from healthy cuisine carefully crafted using healing herbs, to delicious Thai food bursting with exotic spices. Couples can choose a western style wedding infused with elegance and made all the more perfect with the support of our professional wedding planner team, as well as a celebrity hair stylist, florists, photographers, and other professionals. If the bride and groom would like to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of their host country, then a Thai wedding ceremony is the perfect choice. This elegant ceremony is a special affair allowing couples the opportunity to infuse some of the Kingdom’s most cherished and meaningful customs into their day. An energetic drum procession announces the union, a traditional blessing is performed by a group of orange-robed monks, and traditional Thai food can also be served as a wedding feast. The core ingredient is personalisation. Every aspect, from the ceremony and reception style to the décor is designed to make each couple’s day unforgettable. Food and drink menus can be upgraded or enhanced with special additions. The décor can be tailored to suit a couple’s individual tastes, expert local photographers and makeup artists can be hired, and music preferences can be curated into a personal wedding playlist. "Extraordinary experiences" “We created the akyra brand to offer refreshing originality and that resonates through the extraordinary experiences we provide for guests,” explains Kijkanakorn. “Our proposal and wedding experiences are designed to inspire romantic memories, and photos, that will last a lifetime.” Akaryn Hotel Group also offers a wide range of creative proposal and wedding options at its other hotels and resorts in Phuket, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Rehab for foreigners -Thailand’s latest tourism trend

Thailand is now marketing itself as a tropical paradise for junkies. The Southeast Asian destination has attracted more than 200 million visitors for the last 10 years. Over recent years, Thailand has become one of the world’s top medical tourism destinations due to the rise of cosmetic surgeries and reasonably priced medical options. Now, the country is promoting itself as a prime destination for recovering addicts because of its warm climate and relatively cheap food and lodging. The addiction epidemic in first world countries like the United States and Australia has created extremely long waiting lists on rehab centres. The addiction epidemic in first world countries like the United States and Australia has created extremely long waiting lists on rehab centres in their countries. In comes Thailand’s rehab centres that have become a low-cost option. As an alternative, Flow Recovery Retreat offers the next step in your addiction recovery program in Thailand. Once your primary care has been successfully completed, they look to arm you with all the necessary tools to attain a lasting, healthy and sober lifestyle. With the aid of optimal performance psychology, trauma and addiction counseling,  Flow Recovery will strengthen your mindset, instilling ways to confront and deal with the threat of relapse. They believe that your recovery is essential to finding and sustaining a sense of purpose and that having that sense of purpose or meaning will vitalize your recovery. Your entire counseling team helps identify your strengths, incorporate them into your habits and routines, and then channel your energy into finding meaning in life. Thailand offers a variety of rehab centres and services. The country’s temples are offering rehab services. The Thamkrabok Temple, or Wat Thamkrabok in Thai, is popular for its 15-day drug rehabilitation program that is offered for free. Thamkrabok Temple Patients will work under monks and nuns taking temple’s homemade medicines and completing assigned chores and will vow never to do drugs again. The monastery has attracted so much attention for its remedies that more foreigners are seeking out treatment. Other rehab centres are in lush resorts. The Cabin has 120 residences and equipped with private pools, al fresco dining areas, gyms and clinics with mountain views. The Cabin charges US$15,900 for a month’s stay. “Most of our clients come from overseas,” said Adrian Crump, chairman of The Cabin Addiction Services Group, Thailand’s largest Western-style luxury rehabilitation centre. Lanna Rehab is an exclusive luxury rehab facility located behind large rice paddies. The owners of the 24-bed facility greet their clients by name and ask about their progress as they walk out of their morning group therapy session. This new tourism sector has a bit of irony since Thailand is one of the hubs of illegal drugs in Southeast Asia. Due to the prevalence of drugs in the country, cops conduct impromptu searches and thousands of foreigners are in Thai prisons for drug charges.

akyra Tas Sukhumvit Bangkok to open as Thailand’s first single-use plastic free hotel

Akaryn Hotel Group aims to become a single-use plastic free hotel company by 2020. The Group’s newest opening, akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok, launching in May 2018, is set to lead the charge in this initiative by becoming the first new hotel in Thailand to launch without single-use plastic in its rooms or food and beverage outlets. An environmental and social conscience is deeply rooted in the philosophy behind Akaryn Hotel Group’s Aleenta and akyra hotel brands with eco-led decisions and policies playing a central role in business development and hotel operations. Anchalika Kijkanakorn (below), founder and managing director of Akaryn Hotel Group wants this philosophy to extend even further into the guest experience at the soon-to-open akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok. “Our eco-friendly approach in Bangkok began by sourcing glass bottles and containers, with a commitment to no single-use plastic used in the restaurants or bars. The hotel will extend the initiative for guests on the go with stylish akyra stainless steel water bottles presented on arrival that can be refilled anytime during their stay,” she explained. Self-service drinking water will be conveniently dispensed on every floor to make refills easy and guests can also take their bottles with them on excursions and shopping trip around the city. Bathroom amenities will be presented in locally manufactured “celadon” pottery containers filled with essential oil-based products. Bio-degradable bin bags will be used in all rooms and shopping bags will be available to encourage guests to refuse plastic bags when indulging in some Bangkok retail-therapy. With over 8 million tonnes of plastic thrown away each year and the confirmed existence of a “7th continent of waste” spread over 3.4 million sqm in the Pacific Ocean, the world is waking up to the dangers of plastic. “Consumers are now more and more frequently seeking out responsible businesses that take care of our planet and we are proud to have been such a company since we first began operating some 15 years ago,” added Ms. Kijkanakorn. A brand new hotel with serious style credentials, the 50-room akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok offers guests re-imagined urban accommodation in the heart of the city. The hotel is ideally located on Sukhumvit Soi 20, an area of Bangkok known for its buzzing atmosphere, high-end retail, green recreation spaces and fine dining.
