With autumn upon us, Trilogy® at Lake Frederick is inviting residents of the greater Washington, D.C., area for the ultimate seasonal experience just a 90-minute drive away. An exclusive and upscale 55+ active lifestyle resort community, Trilogy offers a number of publicly accessible amenities for day-trippers looking to experience the Shenandoah Valley’s most colorful season.
“It’s a great time of year to drop by Lake Frederick with the leaves full of color,” said Barrie Holt, general manager of the new 36,000 sq. ft. Shenandoah Lodge & Athletic Club situated on the hillside overlooking the lake. “Whether it’s for just a few hours or an entire day, we have more than enough activities to keep guests entertained.”
Inside the Shenandoah Lodge, visitors can pick up a picnic lunch at The Market Place general store, which sells light breakfast and lunch options such as apple cider doughnuts and sandwiches along with smoothies and fresh coffee. Then explore the picturesque 117-acre Lake Frederick. The area includes a public boat launch and trails for walking and biking, all with spectacular views of the Shenandoah Valley.
At the end of the day, visitors can stop by the Inglenook Tavern Bar in the Shenandoah Lodge and relax in front of the unique four-sided fireplace while enjoying a microbrew or a cup of signature Hot Inglenook Cider. Then, it’s off to dinner at Region’s 117, where Chef Scott Bilstad will prepare a locally sourced, seasonally appropriate farm-to-table dining experience with views of Lake Frederick and optional outdoor seating on the veranda.
And while you are there, there is more than the breathtaking vistas and award-winning cuisine. Region’s 117 boasts a modern architectural design that’s rooted in the Shenandoah’s history and culture and inspired by the area’s historic farmhouses. The lodge features a timber-frame deck made with solid Douglas fir beams and soaring vaulted ceilings with massive exposed wood beams accentuated by natural light from expansive windows.
“Every season is beautiful in a different way in the Shenandoah Valley, but fall is the most colorful,” added Holt. “If you haven’t been out here yet this year, the leaves are still full of color and Lake Frederick is one of the best day-trips you could take from D.C.”
