In a recent development, RAK International Airport and Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) have joined forces to develop a number of comprehensive Air Traffic Services (ATS) to ensure the safe operations of commercial and private aircraft operating out of the airport.
The agreement was signed in the presence of HE Engr. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman, Department of Civil Aviation, Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of RAK International Airport LLC.
Under the contract, GAL will provide RAK International Airport with an array of air traffic control services, from manning to the analysis of standards, procedures and facilities at the airport.
Elaborating on the need, Andrew Gower, C.E.O of RAK International Airport, said: “It is important that we continue to focus our efforts on operating the airport in accordance with highest international standards and service, anchored on safety, security, and customer satisfaction.”
As part of the contract, RAK International Airport and GAL have agreed to work closely together to improve efficiency and standardisation to enhance all air traffic services at the airport. The agreement also involves an extensive Emiratisation plan developed by GAL, which will eventually see Emiratis responsible for air traffic control operations at the airport, effectively providing employment opportunities to the local community.
