Regent Hotels & Resorts has made its debut in Chongqing with the opening of the Chinese city’s first urban resort.
Located in the Jiangbeizui financial district, at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, Regent Chongqing features 181 rooms with an average size of 57m² and 21 suites at an average of 182m². Most of the units offer river views.
“As the largest municipality in southwest China, Chongqing continues to maintain rapid economic development while attracting visitors from abroad,” said Regent’s chairman, Steven Pan. “We are confident in the inbound tourism of Chongqing and believe that an urban resort is going to be received positively in this mega-city.”
Facilities at the new property include three restaurants, two bars – including an outdoor bar on the fifth floor -, an indoor heated pool, health club, six meeting rooms and a large 805m² ballroom. The hotel’s interiors also feature a collection of works by Korean, Taiwanese and American artists.
Regent Chongqing becomes the company’s second location in mainland China, after Beijing, and it is also planning to open a hotel in Harbin in 2017.
