Sands China commemorated the 10th anniversary of its Local Small Medium and Micro Suppliers Support Programme with a ceremony at The Londoner Macao on Tuesday. The event included the launch of a commemorative booklet and the 2025 Sands Supplier Excellence Awards, recognising outstanding suppliers and fostering future business collaborations.
The programme, initiated in 2015 alongside the Macao Chamber of Commerce, aims to bolster local small and micro suppliers, Made in Macao companies, and young entrepreneurs. It supports the Macao SAR government's SME policies and has facilitated MOP 11.94 billion in procurement, with 83% sourced locally from 4,700 SMEs.
Grant Chum, CEO of Sands China, highlighted the programme's impact: "For more than 20 years, Sands China has remained committed to supporting the growth of local SMEs by leading the industry in prioritising local procurement." The initiative includes financial support, training, and development opportunities for SMEs.
The ceremony also honoured 40 long-term business partners and featured a networking session to connect local businesses with Sands China representatives. The Sands Supplier Excellence Awards recognised seven winners, including China Travel Service Macao Ltd for sustainability and InnovationTech Macau Limited for innovation.
Ma Chi Ngai, president of the Macao Chamber of Commerce, praised the programme's role in creating a cooperative ecosystem: "Together we have faced market changes and challenges side by side." Sands China continues to prioritise local procurement as part of its corporate social responsibility, aiming to contribute to Macao's economic diversification.
