Saudi minister opens flyadeal’s new operations centre

Saudi Arabia's low-cost airline, flyadeal, has officially opened its new Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC) at its Jeddah headquarters. The facility, inaugurated by Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, is four times larger than its predecessor and is designed to accommodate the airline's rapid expansion.

The new IOCC serves as the airline's nerve centre, managing daily flight operations, coordinating crew resources, and ensuring aircraft maintenance. It plays a crucial role in maintaining operational safety and punctuality, especially during disruptions. Flyadeal CEO Steven Greenway described the centre as the "airline’s heartbeat," highlighting its importance in maintaining flight schedules and coordinating with airports across the network.

Flyadeal, which now operates up to 250 scheduled flights daily, recently surpassed 10 million annual passengers for the first time. The airline has also achieved the best on-time performance among Middle East low-cost carriers for 11 consecutive months. The expansion of the IOCC aligns with flyadeal's plans to increase its international footprint in the coming years.

Mohammed Ashour, head of the IOCC, emphasised the centre's role in enhancing operational efficiency and minimising disruptions. The facility is equipped to handle adverse weather conditions and technical issues, ensuring seamless communication with crew, ground staff, and passengers.

Flyadeal's network currently spans over 30 destinations across the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, and South Asia. By 2030, the airline aims to expand its fleet and network to over 100 cities and aircraft. Starting 1 January 2026, Madinah will become flyadeal's fourth operational base, enhancing travel options for pilgrims and other travellers.
