Embraer joins Bali International Airshow
Embraer is all set to reveal an innovative range of aircraft and aviation solutions at the upcoming Bali International Airshow on 18 to 21 September. At the Ngurah Rai International Airport, the aircraft manufacturer will bring prime examples from its commercial aviation, defense and executive jets portfolios, along with scale models of its latest aircraft, including the E2 family of small narrow-body jets and the multi-mission military airlift C-390 Millennium. Embraer is no stranger to the Indonesian aviation sector. At present, the Indonesian Air Force operates a fleet of A-29 Super Tucanos. Likewise, there is a sizeable fleet of Embraer business jets operating in the country. Innovative aircraft The E2 family of small narrow-body jets includes the E190-E2 and the E195-E2, seating up to 114 and 146 passengers, respectively. The E2 family is both the quietest and most fuel efficient single-aisle aircraft family currently in production. In addition to its class-leading economics and sustainability credentials, the E2 family offers a flying endurance of more than six hours to enable airlines the operational flexibility to connect new city pairs across the region, both near and far. A prime example of this growing connectivity is happening in Indonesia where Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, will commence flights on 28 September 2024 between Singapore and Kertajati International Airport (KJT) using Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. On the other hand, the C-390 can carry more payload (26 tonnes) compared to other medium-sized military transport aircraft and flies faster (470 knots) and farther, being capable of performing a wide range of missions such as transporting and dropping cargo and troops, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian missions, operating on temporary or unpaved runways. The aircraft configured with air-to-air refueling equipment, with the designation KC-390, can operate both as a tanker and as a receiver, in this case also by receiving fuel from another KC-390 using pods installed under the wings.
Scoot welcomes two new aircraft from Embraer

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein, two Embraer 195-E2 aircraft join the RJ fleet
Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al-Hussein, the first two Embraer E195-E2, out of the planned eight such aircraft, joined the RJ fleet to serve the short- and medium-range routes. Prince Faisal toured the aircraft and was briefed by RJ Vice Chairman/CEO Samer Majali about the features of this type of aircraft that will be an important enabler of growth, which is part of RJ’s plan in the Levant, by making it possible to increase frequencies to current markets, thus offering passengers more choices, and due to its high operating and fuel efficiency. Majali spoke about RJ’s fleet modernization plan and the fact that the airline will operate 41 planes in the coming few years. In its 60th year, RJ enters an era of modernity and development with the introduction of eight Embraer 195 and 190-E2 regional aircraft, narrow-body A320 neo aircraft and wide-body Boeing 787-9. It will also expand its route network and reach new destinations, to reach 60 points around the world. Majali expressed optimism for the coming stage on RJ’s journey, including that it will get back to profitability, despite the current regional situation. According to Majali, following extensive feasibility studies, RJ selected Embraer’s E2 as the best fit for its financial objectives and network strategy. These aircraft significantly reduce the investment cost of pilot training and spare parts provisioning, while also making crew scheduling easier and lowering maintenance costs. He pointed out that Royal Jordanian has reinvented its livery, making it more modern and youthful without changing the main elements of RJ’s identity, which are proudly displayed on its aircraft. The new design will gradually be rolled out to the rest of the fleet, presenting a more modern design and colors that signal the beginning of a new era of creativity. Royal Jordanian has always named its planes after Jordanian cities, in a bid to promote the country as a tourist destination; the new aircraft bear the names of the cities of Ramtha and Ma’an. The E2 regional jets provide next generation environmental efficiency, and customers will discover a relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seating, while enjoying Wi-Fi connection during their flight.

Embraer’s E195-E2 receives Steep Approach Certification for London City Airport Operations
Embraer’s cleaner, quieter, new generation aircraft and most advanced jet to date, the E195-E2, has received certification for Steep Approach into London City Airport from EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency). This achievement is a significant development, allowing airlines to operate the E195-E2 at London City Airport (LCY), known for its challenging approach and short runway. Together with the E190-E2, which received Steep Approach certification in 2021, both members of the E2 family are now approved for operations from LCY. The certification process highlighted the E195-E2’s impressive noise reduction among new generation single-aisle aircraft. It surpasses the requirements of ICAO’s strict Chapter 14 regulation, thereby offering a significantly quieter flying experience compared to the previous E195 model. The E195-E2’s noise footprint at take-off is around 60% smaller than current jet aircraft, such as the E190, and will bring benefits to local residents in terms of noise reductions. The E195-E2’s environmental performance extends beyond noise reduction. The aircraft delivers reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency compared to previous generation aircraft. In 2022, Embraer and Pratt & Whitney demonstrated a successful test flight of an E195-E2 aircraft using 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which could push the emissions reduction up to 85% in future. During a proving flight, the E195-E2 first landed at the airport in July 2022. LCY, London’s most central airport, caters to both business and leisure passengers, offering quick access to continental Europe, making it a preferred choice for short-haul flights. The airport is a vital component of London’s wider connectivity and Embraer aircraft are uniquely able to manage the challenges of LCY operations, with Embraer aircraft accounting for a large proportion of LCY operations on routes as diverse as Edinburgh and Mykonos. To serve LCY, aircraft must comply with the steep approach, short runway, and stringent noise regulations. The E195-E2 could replace the current E190 fleet that existing airlines currently operate at LCY. Alison FitzGerald, Chief Operating Officer, London City Airport, commented, “The certification of the E195-E2 signifies an exciting new era for London City Airport. With its capacity to handle more passengers while being significantly quieter and more fuel efficient is testament to our commitment to work closely with aircraft manufacturers to certify cleaner, quieter, new generation aircraft and we eagerly anticipate our airlines starting commercial operations of the E195-E2 at London City Airport." Marie-Louise Philippe Vice President Sales & Marketing, and Head of Region for Europe and Central Asia, Embraer Commercial Aviation, said, “London City is a special place for Embraer, and unique in many ways, not just for its famed 20 mins from kerbside to gate. Embraer aircraft dominate the airport with 85% of all aircraft movements. This is due to the performance of the aircraft that does not require seats to be blocked to reduce weight. We are proud that Embraer aircraft, with their unmatched capability to handle the demanding conditions of LCY, account for most of the airport’s operations, and we look forward to the E195-E2 joining the party.”
