Free entry is available daily with online booking. Visit the Griffith Observatory, an icon of Los Angeles and Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos, with spectacular views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign. Free admission daily. Take in some of the finest artworks in the world at The Getty Center, which is also known for its architecture, gardens, and sweeping views of the city. Free entry is available daily with online booking. The California Space Center offers free fun for the whole family with over 100 permanent exhibitions, including the NASA Space Shuttle Endeavour. Free general admission. Visit LACMA, the largest art museum in the western United States, with a collection of nearly 130,000 objects dating from antiquity to the present. Admission is free on the second Tuesday of every month. Enjoy the great outdoors with over 300 days of sunshine each year: This year marks the 100th anniversary of The Hollywood Sign, an American landmark for 100 years. To celebrate, go behind-the-scenes with iconic studio tours or on set for a live TV taping at these not-to-be-missed Los Angeles experiences. You can also take a hike for free views of the iconic Hollywood Sign: Griffith Park is one of the best places to see the Hollywood Sign, with multiple hiking trails on Mt. Hollywood, many departing straight from the iconic Griffith Observatory. The Cahuenga Peak Trail is among the most popular, a strenuous trek that rewards you with a unique view from behind the Sign and overlooking Downtown Los Angeles. Runyon Canyon is one of the most popular trails in Los Angeles - and a great place to play with dogs, spot celebrities, and get some outstanding views of the city. Bronson Canyon, home of the Batcave from the Batman ‘60s TV show, offers a selection of hikes and different vantage points to view the sign. For those more interested in strolls or picnics than hikes, the reservoir at Lake Hollywood Park has a direct view of the sign and is accessible by car and a short walk. The Venice Beach Boardwalk is the perfect place to swim, suntan or simply sit back and people watch. Eclectic, eccentric and quintessentially LA, be sure to check out the Skate Park and Muscle Beach, and just a short stroll away are the peaceful Venice Canals, a hidden gem of this beachside city. Dine like a local: With over 140 nationalities calling LA home, the city serves up an incredible array of multicultural cuisine and cutting-edge fusion fare, with options available at all budgets: Dine at an iconic LA market: Head to Grand Central Market in Downtown L.A, Smorgasburg on Sundays in the Arts District, or the Original Farmer’s Market, located adjacent to well-known shopping destination The Grove. Head to a food truck or stand: Not only are food trucks helmed by creative and often legendary chefs, but they also embody LA’s casual lifestyle and reflect the city’s diverse and extreme cuisine - often at a more budget-friendly price point. A few local favorites are KogiBBQ, Guerilla Tacos, Pink’s Hotdogs and Empanadas Chimi. Enjoy affordable experiences you can only have in LA: For those wanting to experience the Hollywood magic during their stay, attend free TV tapings at LA’s major studios, with the likes of Jimmy Kimmel and James Cordon filming their talk shows in LA. Spend the day at one of the true cathedrals of Major League Baseball, Dodger Stadium, with tickets starting at just $12 for home games, the stadium also hosts regular promotions that feature special discounts and promotional giveaways. Find a bargain at world-renowned vintage and thrift stores, such as Crossroads Trading Company, with locations throughout the city, the Melrose Trading Post an open-air market on Sundays featuring a range of vendors selling antiques, vintage goods & collectibles. Visitors can also take home a piece of Hollywood at It’s a Wrap in Burbank, which sells second-hand props & wardrobe from movies & TV shows. Accommodation is consistently one of the biggest travel expenses. To maximise savings when booking a hotel, keep in mind that the lowest prices for hotel rooms are typically found just 15 days before your stay, and it is wise to avoid holiday weekends and busy travel seasons in the summer or winter holidays. To find a good deal, go beyond the most-popular neighbourhoods and look at options in surrounding areas such as the San Gabriel Valley or near the Los Angeles International Airport. With 98 direct, non-stop weekly flights from the UK and Ireland to Los Angeles this summer, offering more than 28,000 seats, there are plenty of options to find a flight that fits your budget.

Viking Names Its Newest Ship “Neptune” In Los Angeles

Viking Neptune, the company’s newest ocean liner, was named during a ceremony in Los Angeles. Nicole Stott, a retired NASA astronaut, aquanaut, and artist, gave the ship a blessing of good fortune and safe sailing as part of the occasion. The 930-guest ship has embarked on the company’s 138-day 2022/2023 world cruise, which will visit 28 countries and 57 ports while staying overnight in 11 cities. In April, Viking Cruise Line will also receive another new ocean ship, Viking Saturn. The Neptune has a small hydrogen fuel system, making it the “first ship in the cruise industry to test the use of hydrogen power for on-board operations,” according to the company. These tests will assess whether hydrogen fuel can be employed on a greater scale in future construction. “Today is a special day for the Viking family as we name our newest ocean ship in Los Angeles, the home of Viking’s US headquarters for more than 20 years,” said Viking chairman Torstein Hagen. Viking Neptune is a ship named after our solar system’s furthest planet and the god of the sea. “We are thankful for her numerous contributions to the scientific world and are delighted to have her as part of the Viking family,” says our newest godmother, Nicole Stott, a NASA astronaut and aquanaut. “It is an honour and joy to be Neptune’s godmother,” Stott said. As someone who has had the opportunity to go to space, the seas, and exotic locations on our globe, I realise the value of widening one’s horizons through travel. “I am excited for everyone travelling across the world on this magnificent vessel.”

A new check-in and luggage drop area with a digital back wall stretches 250 feet of the building. It provides travellers with English and Spanish directions, information about the Delta Sky Club, and gate details. On 20 April, seven of the facility’s fourteen security lanes will open to the public for business; by late summer, all lanes in the United States will serve customers. With the completion of the Delta Sky Way at LAX project in 2023, Terminals 2 and 3 will be consolidated into a 1.2-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art, 27-gate complex, providing an easy-to-navigate customer journey and connecting Terminals 2 and 3 to the Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B), allowing quick airside connections to Delta and other airlines. Delta is also making strides in social impact by offering new goods on board that support the airline’s long-term goals of sustainability and equity while also providing premium, wellness-focused experiences. Qantas Removes The A380 From Melbourne-Los Angeles

According to the most recent wave of schedule changes washing across Qantas’ calendar, anyone intending to travel first class on the superjumbo next year between Melbourne and Los Angeles may have crushed their dreams of high flying. This indicates that the airline will not introduce the Airbus A380 into the trans-Pacific route beginning in late March of 2023 as previously scheduled. The reliable Boeing 787 Dreamliner now takes up the QF93/QF94 daily slot. Business class and premium economy seats on the A380 and Dreamliner are interchangeable. Still, the 787 lacks the superjumbo’s 14 first-class suites and the upper deck “premium lounges” where business and first-class passengers may unwind with a drink. Qantas’ downsizing to the Dreamliner will add more pressure to the ongoing capacity squeeze caused by a mismatch between the number of travellers and the number of available seats in the sky, as the double-decker A380 carries significantly more passengers than the Boeing 787, including an extra 28 business class seats and a double-sized premium economy cabin. Also, starting in late March, if you have a connecting flight, especially to the US east coast, it may be a challenge; QF93’s departure will be in the late evenings, departing Melbourne at 8.25 pm and arriving at LAX at 5.45 pm. According to the market update released on10 October, Qantas said that the move was part of a “cautious approach to scheduling” designed to ensure that more planes could be “called upon to prevent delays and cancellations.” Qantas and Jetstar said they would have as many as ten narrow-body, six wide-bodies, and four regional aircraft available at the time. The extra expense is anticipated to be short-lived, and the capacity may be brought back gradually as confidence grows. While five further superjumbos are expected back in the Qantas hangars by December 2023, the few that have already returned from desert slumber are still being used on the company’s principal Sydney-Los Angeles and Sydney-London routes. The QF37/QF38 service between Melbourne and Singapore has been reduced to three weekly flights as part of the same batch of schedule modifications, while the resumption of Sydney’s service to San Francisco has been postponed until May.

American Airlines to restart Sydney– Los Angeles flights from next week

After a five-month pause, American Airlines is relaunching service between Sydney (SYD) and Los Angeles (LAX), resuming a daily flight to connect citizens from Down Under to North American destinations.  Departing Sydney 29 October, the route will coincide with the start of the 2022–23 winter flying season and caters to the increasing number of Australians looking to travel to Los Angeles, both as a destination and as a gateway to other parts of the United States, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. “Over recent months, we’ve seen the demand for North American flights from Asia-Pacific growing in popularity and competition. We’re excited to return to Australia as a challenger airline, providing customers with great service, fares and experiences for a key market for American,” said Kyle Mabry, American’s Vice President of Operations and Commercial, EMEA & APAC. American will operate its Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the SYD–LAX route, offering three cabins, including 30 Flagship® Business seats, 21 Premium Economy seats and 234 Main Cabin seats. American also offers codeshare service between SYD and LAX operated by oneworld alliance partner, Qantas.
