Sofitel and MGallery hotel restaurants honoured by Australian Good Food Guide

Five Sofitel and MGallery hotels in Australia were recently honoured with Chef's Hat rankings by the Australian Good Food Guide. These accolades are a prestigious recognition of exceptional culinary talent, creativity, and dedication to excellence. At the same time, they highlight a strategic and intentional shift by Accor to elevate food and beverage offerings as an essential part of the guest experience.  The intersection of food and travel has never been more important, and the recent relaunch of the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is the perfect example of this evolution.  Following a complete renovation, the Sofitel Wentworth now offers four bars and restaurants by House Made Hospitality, which bring the old-school glamour back to hotel dining while incorporating the latest trends in food and drinks. This renewed focus on culinary excellence speaks to the growing trend of travellers seeking authentic regional flavours and unique gastronomic experiences when they visit new places. Taking an art form to a new level David Fraser, vice-president of operations for Sofitel, MGallery and Emblem hotels in the Pacific, said: "At Sofitel hotels, cuisine is an art form and an expression of local flavours, often with a touch of French zest; while MGallery hotels are known for delivering memorable and meaningful moments with a focus on mixology that is inspired by local culture and flora. These Chefs Hats are a testament to our teams, who excel at the culinary arts and who deliver outstanding experiences to our guests every day.” As guests increasingly seek authentic, region-specific culinary experiences, these award-winning hotel restaurants are proving that travel is as much about the flavours as it is about the destinations.  From the crisp, fresh air of the Blue Mountains to the glamour of Sydney's Darling Harbour, each hotel and restaurant offers a distinctive taste of the region that leaves a lasting impression. Along with a renewed focus on dining, Sofitel and MGallery Hotels are also in the midst of a strategic expansion phase, which includes 32 Sofitel and Sofitel Legend hotels in the pipeline including in Prague, India and Egypt and 26 percent of the Sofitel network under renovation.  Meanwhile, the MGallery boutique brand is unfolding a new chapter with 48 hotels in the pipeline including in Japan, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Who’s on the honour roll? 2 Hats: Atelier by Sofitel – Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour Atelier by Sofitel is a true culinary masterpiece located in one of Sydney's most spectacular hotels. The restaurant's refined French-inspired menu, crafted by an exceptional team of chefs, showcases a blend of artistry and technique. Guests can expect impeccable service, stunning harbour views, and a creative culinary journey that delights the senses. The restaurant's two-hat achievement is a testament to its exceptional dedication to fine dining. 1 Hat: Newmarket Restaurant – The William Inglis Hotel Nestled in the heart of the prestigious William Inglis Hotel, Newmarket Restaurant is a vibrant, modern eatery that draws inspiration from the rich history and local produce of its surroundings. The kitchen's commitment to contemporary Australian flavours, paired with seasonal ingredients, creates a dining experience that captures the essence of the region in every bite. 1 Hat: No.1 Sublime Pt – Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains Set against the stunning backdrop of the Blue Mountains, No.1 Sublime Pt offers a fresh take on modern Australian cuisine. This intimate, elevated dining experience highlights local produce and celebrates regional flavours in dishes that are both inventive and grounded in tradition. 1 Hat: Garcon Bleu – Sofitel Adelaide With a refined yet approachable atmosphere, Garcon Bleu at Sofitel Adelaide transports guests to the heart of French culinary tradition. The restaurant emphasises both technique and simplicity, creating dishes that reflect the elegance and artistry of classic French cooking, with a distinctly local twist. Each plate is a celebration of seasonal Australian produce and French-inspired finesse. 1 Hat: Luma Restaurant – The Playford Adelaide Luma Restaurant offers a sophisticated yet welcoming setting for guests to explore modern Australian cuisine with an emphasis on local and seasonal ingredients. The menu is a tribute to the rich diversity of South Australian produce, with flavours that are bold, balanced, and reflective of the region's unique terroir. Annual and Interim Reports

Accor cites record growth for its Sofitel, MGallery, and Emblems brands in 2024

Accor Group reported record growth in 2024 for its brands Emblems, MGallery, and Sofitel. There are currently 120 Sofitel properties, more than 120 boutique hotels under MGallery, and a growing portfolio of Emblems' bespoke destinations, as well as close to 90 hotels signed in the pipeline to be opened in the coming years. Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery, and Emblems chief executive Maud Bailly remarked: “2024 has been a milestone year for our brands, marking unprecedented development momentum. This accelerated pipeline reflects the dedication and hard work of our exceptional teams worldwide, strengthening our network's consistency, redefining our brand identity, and elevating our brand promise. Two years ago, this new era was just a vision as we laid the foundations of our new organization and shaped our strategic roadmap. Today, it has become a reality. There is nothing more rewarding than restoring clarity and pride to the brands and its talented people.” The unparalleled growth of Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery, and Emblems underscores the strength of Accor's strategic vision and brand-driven organization. With a reinforced pipeline, iconic openings, and transformative refurbishments, these four brands are redefining committed luxury hospitality across continents. As they continue to expand into emerging and established markets, their enduring appeal reflects a bold commitment to blending heritage, modernity, and cultural authenticity. Key highlights from 2024 As Sofitel concludes its 60th-anniversary celebrations in 2024, the brand's rebirth translates into a reignited pipeline, with 32 new hotels to be opened over the coming years. After the latest successful opening of Sofitel Cotonou Marina Hotel & Spa in Benin, Sofitel will keep expanding into key destinations such as Egypt, Vietnam, Portugal, Ireland, Mexico and India; Sofitel Legend also sees a growth milestone in 2024, with the signature - in only twelve months - of three new flagships to be opened in Prague, India and in Egypt, in front of the iconic Giza Pyramids. The same fast-paced dynamic is underway among the collection brands: MGallery, the storied boutique-hotel brand, is unfolding a new chapter with 48 hotels in the pipeline, expanding into new territories such as Japan, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Emblems, Accor's new high-end collection brand, makes a remarkable debut with already  seven iconic flagship hotels signed in Europe, South-East Asia and North America. Luxury through consistency Two years after reuniting Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery and Emblems under the leadership of Maud Bailly, these flagship brands of Accor's luxury and lifestyle division are reaping the rewards of a comprehensive transformation. This journey has consisted into restoring clarity and consistency to each brand identity and rejuvenating the existing hotel network. With major refurbishments underway like Sofitel New York and Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile set for completion by fall 2025, 26 percent of the Sofitel network is currently being renovated. Notable renovations, such as Sofitel Athens, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit and the iconic Sofitel Sydney Wentworth have already been met with success. Meanwhile, eight percent of the MGallery Collection portfolio is under renovation, with projects like Manly Pacific in Australia, which just won Prix de Versailles, or Grand Hôtel Roi Renée Aix-en-Provence in France leading the way. The global scale of transformation has enabled to launch a virtuous dynamic of renovation. Grand openings At the same time, each of the nine openings in 2024 has been a unique moment, tailor-made to reflect the local culture and the hotels' aspirations.  These magical experiences are constantly raising the standards and impact, such as the inauguration of Sofitel Cotonou Marina Hotel & Spa in the presence of the Benin Government last 12th December. This momentum is matched by a surge in development, with over 20 hotels signed in 2024, confirming the unprecedented traction of development of the four brands. Efforts are focused on high-potential markets like Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Egypt, as well as resort destinations in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Emerging markets such as Mexico and India are also seeing significant investment, driven by the brands' increasing desirability. According to Xavier Grange, chief development officer for Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGaller, and Emblems: “We've seen leads triple since 2023, reflecting a strong investment trend in our hard and collection luxury brands. By enhancing brand desirability, we've bolstered our existing Sofitel and MGallery portfolios and expanded into key markets and resort destinations.” The rise of branded residences further highlights the brands' recognition. Landmark projects include Sofitel Residences Downtown Dubai, set to open in 2026, and Sofitel Sapa Hotel & Branded Residences in Vietnam, featuring over 400 units.  This model also resonates with collection brands, as seen in the Abraj Omar Hotel & Residences Makkah – MGallery Collection in Saudi Arabia.

Exceptional hotel design beckons at South Palms Resort Panglao Bohol – MGallery

Design team of award-winning culturalists, storytellers and community-first advocates collaborate to put “adaptive reuse” at the heart of the new Accor hotel on the island of Bohol, Philippines  South Palms Resort Panglao Bohol – MGallery. With craft, community and a deeply held intrinsic value for the cultural mores and history of the island, South Palms Resort Panglao Bohol – MGallery is shaping up to be anything but a cookie cutter hotel. Six world-class innovation and sustainability leaders in architecture, interior design and green development have gathered to create a hotel like no other - weaving the folklore of the destination into the fabric of the project and into the hearts of the community of artisans proudly crafting a living history for guests when the hotel opens as part of the Panglao Shores masterplan in Q4 2024. Take Patrick Keane, founder of Enter Projects, an artist and master of “native material” design who is working with Boholano craftsmen to create spaces of celebration. “Here is a community deeply entrenched in generations of arts and crafts,” he said. “We are using local materials such as recycled woods, weaving basketry and weaving fabrics, plus traditional techniques passed down through generations and incorporating performance-based materials such as solar and sustainably engineered materials. As a project it is breaking new ground.” The concept of “adaptive reuse”, which extends the lifecycle of architecture through creative upcycling, ensuring history lives on and folklore traditions are maintained, courses through the project. Hazel Wu of White Jacket has been at the forefront of the reuse of materials from former ancestral homes to ensure materials are utilized and cherished. “A piece of Bohol will be featured in every room, including wooden walls that previously formed part of village dwellings and natural materials that tell the story of local artists and artisans. This is a tale of culture and folk tales. Stories that will be told throughout the hotel,” said Wu. Located on a 6.4-hectare site, the hotel is a story of collaboration and re-discovery of the roots of Bohol’s cultural heritage led by the owners’ passion and love of the destination. The personal journey of Hope Uy, daughter of the founder of owning company, Alturas Group of Companies (AGC), is at the core of the creation of the 188-key resort. Developed by AGC, with the support of renowned Asian hospitality consultancy C9 Hotelworks, led by industry icon Bill Barnett, the design of South Palms Resort Panglao Bohol - MGallery instils the timeless tales of family into every aspect of the hotel, says Uy. “Ensuring that this DNA was at the centre of the hotel was everything for me,” she said. “This is the heart of the project. I was born in Bohol and it is vital for me that the spirit of our history, culture and sense of family comes through all aspects of the design creation. I hope it will also inspire others. I feel that we have a responsibility to respect our land and our heritage and make it everlasting and relevant to new generations.” Chris Singer, Founder & Managing Director of SCSY Studio calls upon his 25 years of master-planning, architecture and design expertise to provide conceptual and technical recommendations for South Palms Resort Panglao Bohol – MGallery. Phillip Pond, Founder & Director of Atelier Pond is developing the concept, planning, and detailed design for the four restaurants and bars on site, comprising an array of F&B experiences for guests. Phillip believes in aesthetics informed by cultural heritage and environment; a concept he brings to life through natural materials. Every aspect of the project will be developed in line with eco-building standards and materials, such as high-performance glass, natural ventilation and solar harvesting, along with smart technologies, electric transport, water treatment and waste reduction. John Farrell, Founder & Director of XCO2 Energy is a specialist in low-carbon projects and his input is instrumental in helping South Palms Resort Panglao Bohol – MGallery to be operationally eco-friendly. Destination landscape and sustainability specialist, Drew Anderson, Managing Director of TOPO Design Studio Singapore has been drafted in due to his vast experience in working in some of the most eco-sensitive resort locations globally such as Fiji and the Maldives. He brings decades of expertise in agricultural tourism and developing sustainable food resources such as hydroponics and farm-to-table farming for hotels and helps AGC harness natural resources and integrate community communities into the project. Construction of South Palms Resort Panglao Bohol – MGallery is currently underway in Phase 1 of Panglao Shores with completion scheduled in Q4 2024. Bohol is one of the most exciting destinations for investment and tourism in the Philippines. The island is served by the new Bohol-Panglao International Airport, the first eco-airport in the Philippines, with the building orientated specifically to make the most of natural light and ventilation, complemented by extensive solar power implementation, utilization of a photovoltaic power generation system and state-of-the-art waste disposal and waterworks systems – further adding to the credentials of Bohol as a truly sustainable destination.
