Qatar Airways Expands Services in Saudi Arabia, Increases Flights to Jeddah and Riyadh

From 5 January 2026, Qatar Airways will launch three weekly flights to Hail (HAS), making it the 13th Saudi city to be served by the airline. Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd poised to buy back entirety of Qatar Airways’ shareholding
Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and Qatar Airways QCSC announced on 5th November that Qatar Airways has entered into an undertaking to execute a buy-back agreement with Cathay Pacific. These proceedings are in accordance with Cathay’s pending repurchase of the entire Qatar Airways’ shareholding in its organisation. According to Cathay group chair Patrick Healy: “The buy-back reflects our strong confidence in the future of the Cathay Group and underscores our commitment to the development of the Hong Kong international aviation hub. Together with our investment of well over HK$100 billion into our fleet, cabin and lounge products, and digital leadership, we are firmly focused on sustainably growing our business to strengthen Hong Kong’s status as a world-class aviation hub and contribute to the prosperity of the wider Greater Bay Area. Execution of the buy-back agreement by Cathay is subject to certain conditions, including Cathay obtaining approval from its independent shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
Qatar Airways codeshares with Air Algérie
Qatar Airways and Air Algérie announced a codeshare partnership that will increase access to seamless connectivity between Algeria and key markets in Asia and the Middle East through the multiple award-winning Hamad International Airport. Starting now, travellers can book codeshare flights for travel starting on 15 November 2025. Building on an existing interline partnership between the two carriers, the codeshare provides Qatar Airways customers easier access to Algiers as well as six other key destinations in Air Algérie's domestic network, including Annaba, Constantine, Oran, Tamanrasset, Timimoun, and Tindouf. Qatar Airways is now providing access to 18 additional routes in the United States through expanded codeshares with its International Airlines Group (IAG) partners, Aer Lingus and LEVEL. With the latest enhancements, Qatar Airways has strengthened its partnership with IAG and its carriers to expand global connectivity between the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East.
