Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has unveiled a new F&B programme intended to encourage healthy eating.
‘Color Your Plate by Sheraton Fitness’ is designed to add colours from fruits and vegetables to dishes, with all menu items kept below 500 calories. The programme is an extension of Sheraton Fitness programme by Core Performance and is now available at more than 400 hotels worldwide.
“Travelling used to be an excuse for poor nutrition,” said Core Performance Founder, Mark Verstegen whose team developed the new F&B programme. “Sheraton is now offering an innovative and easy way for guests to enjoy healthy, delicious meals on the road.”
The Color Your Plate initiative incorporates a ‘nutrition colour code’. All menu items feature key nutrients from fruits and vegetables, with yellow foods to optimise brain functions, green to help musculature and bones, orange to support skin and eye health, red to help heart and circulatory health, white enhance the immune system and purple to promote microcirculation.
The new branded menus are available at restaurants and in-room dining.
“The last thing people have time to think about on the road is getting the nutrients they need,” said Amanda Carlson-Phillips, Vice President of Nutrition & Research at Core Performance. “By brightening their plates with colourful fruits and vegetables, we hope the programme encourages travellers to re-think their nutrient needs while still enjoying the tasty menu items they have come to expect from Sheraton chefs.”
