Singapore Airlines has signed a new partnership aimed at driving more tourists to Malaysia.
A new two-year partnership between SIA and Tourism Malaysia was signed at ITB Berlin this week and will take effect from 1 April. The deal will see the two parties “jointly explore and implement activities to promote tourist traffic to Malaysia”, via Singapore’s Changi Airport.
It will focus on 14 key inbound markets which are served by SIA and SilkAir, and will include joint advertising and promotional campaigns and fam trips for the travel trade and media.
“Singapore Airlines and SilkAir together serve nearly 100 destinations in 35 countries, making us well positioned to support the development of tourism in Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region as a whole,” said SIA’s divisional vice president of sales & marketing, Foo Chai Woo. “We look forward to offering more customers the opportunity to discover Malaysia’s unique culture and heritage, as well as its world-renowned cuisine.”
SIA and SilkAir currently operate a total of 111 weekly flights from Singapore to five destinations in Malaysia.
The markets included in the new agreement are the UK, Germany, Spain, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, USA, Brazil, India, South Africa, China, Australia and New Zealand.
