The Slow Cyclist, known for its small group e-cycling and walking holidays, has announced a new six-night adventure across Norway's Vesteralen islands, set to launch in summer 2026. This marks the company's first foray into Scandinavia, offering participants a chance to explore the Arctic Circle's stunning landscapes and unique wildlife.
Founder Oli Broom expressed excitement about the venture, stating, "This is our first journey to Scandinavia and it’s a special one in Norway, one of the most beautiful countries on earth." The itinerary invites travellers to embrace friluftsliv, the Norwegian philosophy of enjoying the outdoors regardless of weather, with accommodations ranging from converted fishing warehouses to rural guest houses.
The journey begins in Andøya, featuring white sand beaches, traditional fishing villages, and diverse wildlife, including whales and puffins. Cyclists will traverse scenic routes, such as Andøya’s western road, and enjoy local culture with stops like a Sami culture centre. The trip concludes with a sea eagle safari and a cycle across Hadseløya, the smallest of the islands, before a final dinner in Storkmarknes.
Priced from $5,600 (£4,595) per person, the package includes accommodation, meals, activities, and e-bike hire, with a portion of proceeds supporting local causes. The Slow Cyclist aims to provide immersive travel experiences whilst supporting local communities.
