Southwest Airlines and Turkish Airlines have announced a new partnership set to commence in January 2026, enabling travellers to book one-ticket transatlantic journeys between the United States and Istanbul. This collaboration will facilitate onward connections across both airlines' networks, enhancing travel options for international passengers. Tickets will be available through Turkish Airlines' travel agents and websites next year.
The partnership leverages Turkish Airlines' extensive network, which includes over 350 destinations in 132 countries, and Southwest's service to ten US airports. Andrew Watterson, Chief Operating Officer of Southwest Airlines, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "We're grateful for this new relationship that will usher thousands of international travellers each week through experiences around the globe that showcase the best of both carriers."
This agreement marks Southwest's sixth partnership with overseas carriers this year, expanding its reach to Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The airline is also introducing enhancements such as a redesigned cabin experience and the option to book assigned and extra legroom seating on flights from 27 January 2026.
Southwest Airlines, known for its friendly and low-cost air travel, operates at 117 airports across 11 countries. Turkish Airlines, a Star Alliance member, boasts a fleet of 514 aircraft serving 356 destinations worldwide. This partnership is expected to significantly enhance the travel experience for passengers, offering more choices and seamless connectivity.
