Abid Butt has been appointed chief executive officer at Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts. Previously an area general manager at Banyan Tree Phuket, Butt was also VP of operations at Banyan Tree from 2000-2002 and re-joins the group from US-based Host Hotels & Resorts, where he was BP for asset management.
Margit Klemmensen is to run Visit Denmark’s business events team in the UK & Ireland as marketing manager following Jonathon Cohen’s departure. Klemmensen and sales manager Ines Lebaek have taken over the UK office after Cohen left to set up his own marketing firm.
Erik Lindbergh has joined Air Charter Service as brand ambassador. Lindbergh, whose grandafather Charles was the first person to fly solo across in the Atlantic in 1927, will be working on a number of ACS’ passenger and cargo projects.
Janab Al Sayyid Captain Manin bin Khalifa bin Said Al-Said has been appointed general manager, quality and safety at Oman Air. Al-Said will be responsible for emergency response planning previously under the duties of chief officer, flight operations. He is a founding member of the Gulf Flight Safety Committee and has previously flown for the Oman Air Force and Gulf Air.
