Suspect package closes Manchester Airport terminal

A terminal at Manchester Airport was closed yesterday after a "suspect package" was spotted, according to airport officials. Police were called at about 8.15am after security staff reported a suspicious piece of hand luggage local news reported. The bag, which had passed through a scanner, turned out to contain a bottle of contact lens solution tightly packed with parts of a mobile phone. The bomb disposal team gave the all clear and passengers were allowed back into the terminal. Greater Manchester Police said the explosive ordinance disposal team were called "as a precaution".
