Teletext Holidays is to launch a new campaign on Monday (7 January) encouraging holidaymakers to book early.
Its online and print promotions will also focus on “clear and honest” prices with admin and check-in fees included in the prices on its website and apps. Its campaign will be supported by a new mascot named Consumer Champion Barry and will be used throughout its website to help clients see the costs involved.
Victoria Sanders, managing director of Teletext Holidays said the company wants to put a stop to misleading holiday prices.
“We only want prices on our site that customers like the look of and can actually book. They are fed up with seeing a price advertised on a site, phoning or clicking to book and finding out that the holiday isn’t available at that price because there are additional charges they have to pay,” she explained.
The online travel agent has a compliance team that has been working with the CAA, ABTA and ASA.
“Our Consumer Champion Barry is a character that enables our compliance department to have a voice. This department is unique to Teletext Holidays, and their single task is to check our advertisers’ prices to make sure that they are real and that the holidays are available to buy at the prices displayed,” added Sanders.
