Thomas Cook is to open its second ‘concept store’ in Edinburgh following the success of its Leeds launch.
The tour operator’s new store is to be open in July in time for the Edinburgh Festival and comes after the launch of its first in Leeds White Rose Shopping Centre back in December.
As well as an enhanced technology offering within the store, it will also include a new VIP Lounge.
“The concept store is all about enabling our customers to book exactly what they want how they want,” added Joanne Wild, retail director at Thomas Cook.
“Whether it’s via the new technologies that will be available to all, or the ‘human touch’ where expert advice is on-hand if our customers need it, the aim of our new ‘stores of the future’ will be to make sure that we provide the very best consumer interaction on the high street, both within and without travel.”
Thomas Cook’s shop on Hanover Street was closed in July 2012 after a fire broke out in a nearby restaurant and damaged the store. Its staff were relocated to other outlets and will return to the new store when it comes this summer.
