Thomas Cook Group has named Harriet Green as its new CEO, in effect on 30 July.
Green will succeed Sam Weihagen, who will remain with the group until 30 September to ensure a ‘seamless transition’.
Green is currently CEO of Leeds-based electronics company Premier Farnell and is a non-executive director at BAE Systems and Emerson Electric Co. During her current role Green has overseen a new strategy at Premier Farnell, which has seen its business move predominantly to ecommerce channels. Thomas Cook announced in December it is to close 200 stores following its merger with Co-operative Travel, while the sale of its India business has helped minimise its debts by £94m.
“I am delighted to be able to announce the appointment of such an exceptional Group CEO. Harriet is an extremely successful executive with the right combination of international, business transformation and ecommerce experience that we need to take the Group forward, and build on our strong reputation and brand,” said Frank Meysman, chairman of Thomas Cook Group.
