Tiger returns to Alice Springs
Tiger Airways touched down in Alice Springs yesterday, marking its return to the central Australian city after an absence of two years.
The low-cost carrier pulled out of Alice Springs in 2011 when its services were curtailed Australian authorities, but it has now resumed flights to the city from both Melbourne and Sydney.
“Air access is critical to Alice Springs and our two new routes will provide 2,880 additional visitor seats weekly through Alice Springs airport,” said Tiger Airways’ Commercial Director for Australia, Carly Brear. “After responding to a huge groundswell of support for Tiger’s return, we hope local Alice Springs residents take advantage of our great value fares to Sydney and Melbourne.”
Flights on both the Melbourne and Sydney routes will operate four times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using an Airbus A320 aircraft.
