Train travel in Turkey is to be added to the Eurail Global and Select Pass next year while French network SNCF will pull out of the latter.
Turkish train company TCDD will become a member of Eurail Pass on 1 January 2013 with connections available from Bulgaria. However construction work on some routes will mean some will not open up until late 2013.
Meanwhile SNCF has announced it will withdraw from the Eurail Select Pass in January but will still participate in the Global Pass and Regional Pass. Purchases made before 31 December 2012 will be valid on SNCF trains.
In addition Eurail announced its first member that is privately owned, Westbahn, will join in January adding high-speed services between Salzburg and Vienna.
“Even though SNCF will no longer participate in theEurailSelectPassproduct, pass holders will still be able to reachSpainandPortugalby ferry viaItaly, receiving a 20% discount from Grimaldi Lines,” added Ana Dias e Seixas, marketing director of Eurail Group.
