United Airlines is set to transform its inflight dining experience starting 1 August, with the introduction of 30 new dishes crafted by world-renowned chefs. This initiative, in collaboration with Chef's Table, the brand behind the Emmy Award-winning Netflix series, will be available on United Polaris international business class flights.
The new menu features a diverse range of appetisers, salads, and entrées, each inspired by the United city the chef calls home. Notable dishes include burrata with braised leeks by Chef Nancy Silverton from Los Angeles, Brazilian shrimp stew by Chef Manu Buffara from São Paulo, and poached scallop by Chef Tashi Gyamtso from Tokyo. The collaboration aims to redefine inflight dining by bringing the culinary expertise of Chef's Table to passengers, according to Justin Connor, President of Chef's Table Projects.
Aaron McMillan, United's Managing Director of Hospitality Programmes, highlighted the partnership's ambition to "redefine what inflight dining can be," leveraging United's global network to work with world-class chefs. The chefs have crafted menus specifically designed for the realities of travel, ensuring flavours remain exceptional at high altitudes.
The new menus will be served on flights departing from the chefs' home cities, with passengers able to pre-order meals through United's website or app. Additionally, exclusive branded content will be available on inflight entertainment systems, offering passengers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of these menus. This initiative will continue with seasonal rotations of dishes into 2027, promising a continually evolving dining experience for travellers
