Vietnamese travellers favour domestic destinations for Tet 2026

Vietnamese travellers are increasingly opting to explore their home country during the Tet holiday in 2026, according to Agoda. The digital travel platform noted a significant 22% increase in domestic travel interest compared to the previous year, based on searches made between October and November 2025 for check-ins from 14 to 22 February 2026. This trend aligns with Agoda's 2026 Travel Outlook Report, which indicates that 50% of Vietnamese respondents plan to travel domestically this year.

Da Lat has emerged as the top domestic destination, with a 44% rise in searches, thanks to its cool climate and festive atmosphere. Phu Quoc has surpassed Nha Trang to become the second most popular choice, boasting a 41% increase in interest. Nha Trang and Da Nang continue to attract visitors, ranking third and fourth, respectively, whilst Vung Tau rounds out the top five with a 31% increase in searches.

For international travel, Bangkok remains the favourite destination for Vietnamese travellers during Tet. Singapore has climbed to second place, with a 25% increase in interest, overtaking Tokyo, which now ranks third. Hong Kong has made a notable entry into the top five, recording a 46% increase in travel interest, whilst Bali maintains its appeal as a relaxing holiday spot.

Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director at Agoda Vietnam, highlighted the significance of Tet as a time for Vietnamese families to embark on new journeys. Agoda supports this travel spirit by offering a seamless platform with over 6 million properties, 130,000 flight routes, and 300,000 activities, enabling travellers to plan their ideal Tet getaway.
