Virgin Atlantic is to operate its domestic flights under the brand Little Red.
The new name will be used for the carrier’s flights between London and Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Manchester. Services will start on 31 March from Heathrow Terminal 1 and are to compete against British Airways’ domestic routes.
Virgin Atlantic is selling the domestic routes as an improved connection service for passengers in Scotland and the north of England, with transfers to be made to Heathrow’s Terminal 3 for international transit passengers.
“Virgin Atlantic has been on an incredible journey since we started with a single plane 29 years ago. Little Red represents the next step on that journey as we go head to head with British Airways to provide domestic flights that deliver Virgin Atlantic’s rock and roll spirit as well as real value for money,” said Sir Richard Branson, founder and president.
