Virgin Atlantic wins ‘Most Improved’ airline award

Cirium, a leading aviation analytics firm, has announced its 2025 On-Time Performance Results, highlighting Virgin Atlantic as the 'Most Improved' airline. The UK-based carrier enhanced its on-time performance from 74.01% in 2024 to 83.45% in 2025, marking a significant 9.44 percentage point increase.

Aeromexico retained its title as the world's most on-time global airline for the second consecutive year, achieving a 90.02% on-time performance across 188,859 flights in 23 countries. This makes Aeromexico only the second airline to win consecutively since Cirium began the programme in 2009. Saudia and SAS followed closely with on-time performances of 86.53% and 86.09%, respectively.

Regional winners included Delta Air Lines in North America with 80.90%, Iberia Express in Europe with 88.94%, and Philippine Airlines in Asia-Pacific with 83.12%. Copa Airlines led in Latin America with 90.75%, whilst Safair topped the Middle East and Africa with 91.06%.

Qatar Airways received the Platinum Award for operational excellence, maintaining an 84.42% on-time performance over 198,303 flights. Santiago Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport won the Large Airport category with 87.04% of flights departing on time.

Cirium CEO Jeremy Bowen noted, "Maintaining consistent on-time performance requires sophisticated network planning and operational coordination." The results underscore the operational discipline that distinguishes top performers in the aviation industry.
