Thousands of travel and tourism professionals are in London this week for the 33rd World Travel Market.
The four-day extravaganza at the ExCel is set to generate more business this year than last with companies pulling out all the stops to lure travel agents and buyers to their stands. Such is the popularity of the event, and slight pick-up in the economy, that there will be 183 new exhibitors at the show this year. There will be an increased number of tourist boards, hotel chains, ground handlers and lodge owners in the Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Americas, Caribbean and Global Village areas.
“The number of new exhibitors at this year’s event shows the importance of WTM for generating business for exhibitors,” said Simon Press, WTM director at Reed Travel Exhibitions. “WTM 2010 generated a massive US$2,280 million in industry deals and research of our Meridian Club buyers reveals they plan to sign contracts equating to even more business this year”.
