The mega water park – Yas Waterworld – is set to officially open to the public on 24 January 2013.
The water park will showcase 43 rides, slides, and attractions, themed restaurants, shops and activities spread over 15 hectares, featuring a mountain topped glittering pearl, bandit towers, an authentic wood-raftered souq and a giant falcon’s nest spilling over with slides.
Mike Oswald, park general manager said: “Visitors to the park will be in for an experience that brings together high-thrill rides, interactive attractions and a number of world-firsts in terms of water park entertainment.”
Top of the list is Dawwama – the largest hydromagnetic-powered 6-person tornado waterslide with the world’s longest run-in at 238 metres long. Then there is the Bubble’s Barrel, the largest FlowBarrel which features the world’s biggest surfable sheet wave for flowboards and bodyboards. The Bandit Bomber is a 550-metre interactive coaster to incorporate on-board water and laser special effects among others.
“The temperature controlled system keeps all rides comfortable through winter and summer months, with permanently shaded rides, queuing, dining and lounging areas. We have a ton of exciting attractions for kids,” concluded Oswald.
