Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship the Norwegian Breakaway will debut the largest youth and teen dedicated facilities in its fleet. The youth area named ‘Splash Academy’ will span two decks, 12 and 13 adjacent to the family friendly staterooms. Teens will have their own dedicated area as well, Entourage located on deck 16. Babies and toddlers under age 3, along with parents, will also have their own allocated play space with activities.
As parents enter Splash Academy, they will use an e-Youth tablet–based electronic registration, which allows them to swipe their keycard and input a password to sign their children in. On deck 13, the 10-12 year olds will have their own space with a dance space and touch screen jukebox. An activity zone will include everything needed for arts and crafts and more.
Entourage, for ages 13 through 17, will include air hockey, foosball and an arcade centre with large screens and sofas. The evenings will see Entourage transition into a teens only night club with a dance floor, large screen television and a video jukebox.
The Breakaway enters service in April 2013, and will homeport in New York from where it will cruise to Bermuda in the summer and the Bahamas and Florida and the Caribbean in the winter.
