Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has launched Multiple Forms of Payment (MFOP) through the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC), enhancing transaction flexibility for travel agencies and customers. This new feature, announced by ARC, allows SAS to accept more than one form of payment in a single transaction, including sales, exchanges, and refunds.
The introduction of MFOP is a significant step in modernising airline retailing, offering agencies smoother processing and greater control over transaction structuring and reconciliation. Shelly Younger, ARC's Head of Offers and Settlement, stated, "SAS's adoption of Multiple Forms of Payment gives agencies and travellers more choice whilst improving the accuracy and efficiency of settlement and reporting."
MFOP supports complex payment scenarios, such as combining credit and debit cards, cash, and other forms of payment within a single transaction. This capability is crucial as the industry shifts towards dynamic offers, personalised pricing, and order-based retailing. ARC is committed to expanding MFOP adoption across the industry, working with airlines, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance payment flexibility.
As more partners enable MFOP capabilities, ARC will update participating agencies and its airline participation resources. This initiative is part of ARC's broader investment in modernising reporting and settlement solutions, which power commercial decisions for airlines and their partners
