Sun Siyam Pasikudah has introduced a unique floating dining platform, the Aqua Lounge, on the waters of Pasikudah Bay. This innovative platform is the first of its kind on Sri Lanka's east coast, offering a solar-powered fine-dining experience on the open Indian Ocean. The platform, spanning 400 square feet, is constructed from sustainable timber and recyclable barrels, reflecting the resort's commitment to sustainability under its Sun Siyam Cares programme.
The dining experience features a seven-course menu inspired by the flavours of Sri Lanka's eastern coastline. Guests can enjoy sunset cocktails and linger over meals with the sound of the ocean beneath them. For a more intimate experience, a champagne breakfast is available upon request.
Beyond providing a unique guest experience, the platform serves a community purpose. Local school children are regularly brought to the platform as part of the resort's corporate social responsibility programme, engaging in discussions about the bay and its coral reef ecosystem.
Arshed Refai, General Manager of Sun Siyam Pasikudah, emphasised the platform's connection to the local environment: "Pasikudah Bay is extraordinary... We wanted to put guests right at the centre of that. Not looking at the ocean from the shore, but actually sitting on it."
Sun Siyam Pasikudah, part of the Privé Collection, offers 34 pavilions along Sri Lanka's unspoilt coastline. The resort integrates sustainability into its operations, from solar lighting to waste management. Guests can also enjoy the Summer Offer, available until 31 October 2027, which includes savings on room upgrades, dining, and spa treatments
