Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced the opening of two inaugural Mediterranean sailings aboard its newest and largest ship, Norwegian Aura, set to commence on 2 May 2027. The early delivery of the ship has enabled NCL to offer these voyages, providing guests with the first opportunity to experience the vessel's innovative features.
The first of the two voyages is a 10-day journey from Trieste, Italy, to Athens, Greece, departing on 2 May 2027. This itinerary includes stops in Dubrovnik and Split, Croatia; Bar, Montenegro; and Corfu, Santorini, and Mykonos, Greece. The second voyage, a nine-day trip, will sail from Athens to Trieste on 12 May 2027, visiting Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini, and Corfu, Greece; Bar, Montenegro; and Split and Zadar, Croatia.
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, expressed excitement about the ship's early debut, stating, “The early delivery of Norwegian Aura allows us to welcome guests aboard sooner than expected and begin creating unforgettable holiday experiences earlier than planned.”
Norwegian Aura, at nearly 1,130 feet long and approximately 170,000 gross tonnes, will be 10% larger than its predecessors, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The ship features Ocean Heights, an outdoor activities complex, and offers new entertainment and dining experiences, including a tribute show to Whitney Houston and NCL's first speciality Indian restaurant.
Following the Mediterranean voyages, Norwegian Aura will embark on a seven-day cruise from Trieste to Barcelona on 21 May 2027, before heading to Miami for Caribbean cruises. This expansion marks a significant milestone for NCL, enhancing its offerings with cutting-edge amenities and diverse itineraries.
