Destination Canada has announced a strategic marketing partnership with Air Canada and Lufthansa Group to entice travellers from South India to visit Canada. The collaboration, revealed during a signing ceremony in Mumbai, aims to influence Indian tourists to choose Canada as their destination for spring and summer 2027 and beyond. This initiative is part of the Team Canada Trade Mission to India, led by Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu.

The partnership combines Destination Canada's storytelling and market insights with the airlines' customer intelligence and global networks. The goal is to streamline the process from travel intent to booking, using destination storytelling and targeted marketing to reach potential visitors. This approach aligns with a broader trend in how global travellers plan and book trips.

Rechie Valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism, stated, "This new partnership will help turn that global interest into more travellers choosing Canada, creating new opportunities for businesses and communities across the country."

Gloria Loree, Senior Vice-President of Marketing Strategy at Destination Canada, emphasised the partnership's potential to support Canada's economic goals by driving high-yield visitor spending. Raymond Ludwin of Air Canada highlighted the collaboration's potential to connect more international travellers to Canada, whilst Kevin Markette of Lufthansa Group noted the opportunity to inspire travel and drive sustainable growth.

Tourism is a significant export opportunity for Canada, projected to contribute up to 10% of the country's goal to double non-US exports by 2030. This partnership aims to support Canada's trade diversification strategy and strengthen economic ties with India.
