The Datai Langkawi will collaborate with Save Wild Tigers, the Eastern & Oriental Express, and Raffles Singapore for the 2027 Tiger Express, scheduled from 9 to 15 May. This six-night journey will highlight the critical conservation efforts needed to protect Malaysia's endangered Malayan tigers, with fewer than 150 estimated to remain in the wild.
The journey begins in Singapore with a night at Raffles Singapore, featuring a drinks reception and a screening of "Ray The Rug," a short film starring Ray Winstone, which addresses the impact of poaching. Guests will then board the Eastern & Oriental Express for a two-night travel through Malaysia, enjoying entertainment and a dinner by Chef André Chiang.
Upon arrival at Merapoh Station, guests can choose from three excursions in Taman Negara National Park, home to the Malayan tiger. The journey continues to Penang, where guests will visit George Town's UNESCO World Heritage sites and view the 'Eye on the Tiger' photographic exhibition.
The final leg of the journey includes a three-night stay at The Datai Langkawi, offering leisure activities and unique excursions such as the Mandi Embun ritual. The experience concludes with a beachside gala dinner, reinforcing The Datai Langkawi's commitment to wildlife conservation.
Stephane Duvacher, General Manager of The Datai Langkawi, stated, “The return of the Tiger Express reflects a shared belief that meaningful travel can deepen people’s understanding of the natural world and the responsibility we have to protect it.” Simon Clinton, founder of Save Wild Tigers, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in raising awareness for the Malayan tiger's plight
