A350 soaring above the cloudsIts new triangle route offers more flights from the Western Cape and Johannesburg to the U.S. Delta Air Lines is expanding its South Africa network, introducing a new, seasonal โtriangularโ route from Atlanta-Johannesburg-Cape Town-Atlanta starting December 2, 2022. The four-times-weekly route will complement nonstop service from both Cape Town and Johannesburg to Atlanta and mean both cities will have daily operations to the U.S. by the end of this year.
โAs demand for travel increases, weโll be offering our largest-ever schedule between South Africa and the U.S. this summer,โ said Jimmy Eichelgruen, Deltaโs director โ sales for Africa, Middle East & India. โThanks to this added connectivity, customers will have access to more than 160 cities in North and South America, giving people even more opportunity to reconnect or expand business ties between our two countries, which U.S. Government data estimated to be worth $17.8 billion in 2019.โ
All of Deltaโs South Africa flights are operated using Airbus A350-900 aircraft with four product experiences Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin. Those traveling in Delta One will enjoy refreshed amenities and services including artisan-madeย amenity kits, soft and comfortable bedding made from recycled materials,ย pre-departure beverage service, chef-curated three-course meals and decadent desserts featuring build-your-own ice cream sundaes.
Delta Premium Select, the airlineโs premium economy cabin, includes more space to relax and stretch out with a wider seat with deeper recline and an adjustable footrest and leg rest. Customers can also look forward to an elevated dining experience, premium service touchpoints and new one-of-a-kind amenity kits featuring thoughtfully curated travel essentials, in addition to noise-canceling headsets, blankets and memory-foam pillows to help them arrive rested and refreshed.
Meanwhile, all customers will have access to Wi-Fi onboard for purchase and Deltaโs best-in-class seatback entertainment, while powering up their own devices with in-seat power and USB ports as well asย premium food and beverage optionsย from small businesses, suppliers from across the globe and woman- and LGBTQ+-led brands.
The new route offers international travel only โ customers are unable to travel domestically from Johannesburg to Cape Town.ย The nonstop Atlanta-Cape Town service begins 17 December and will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays using theย Airbus A350-900.
