Beijing-based augmented reality development firm AStation certainly brought its A-game to ITB Asia 2025 with its highly engaging enterverse technologies.
Indeed, given the drive towards sustainable and innovative tourism practices that would put less strain on our physical environment, AStation technologies offer an incredibly engaging and immersive experience for travellers.
Currently, AStation beguiles users with a unique blend of virtual content and physical reality.
Utilising Apple Vision Pro headsets paired with six geo-sensing cameras, the company's proprietary Enterverse technology transforms interior and especially exterior spaces into immersive mixed-reality experiences ranging from the fanciful to thought-provoking.
Indeed, the only thing probably limiting the tech is the imagination of those working with it and on it.
According to company chief executive Chris Chen: "Tourism needs AStation because destinations worldwide are searching for innovative ways to engage visitors and differentiate themselves."
Creative development officer Sion Yang added: "We're not just offering entertainment. We're providing a transformative tool that allows cities and tourism sites to reimagine their spaces, attract new audiences, and create unforgettable experiences that keep people coming back."
AStation today and beyond
At present, AStation's Beijing flagship offers two Enterverse experiences: Shen Hai Space which takes users on a mythical journey through ancient cities, and Dinosaur Park which transports viewers into the Jurassic Era.
Since its Beijing debut, AStation has expanded its operations into Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chaoyang, Hangzhou, A'er Shan, and Chengdu, the adoption of the technology driven by recognition of its importance by tourism developers and local governments.
Indeed, the fact that the technology can be used outdoors and in ambient light is seen as a way to sensibly reduce operational costs.
Chen remarked: "AStation relies to n outdoor spaces, allowing outlets to operate without expensive mall leases."
More than that, the application of AStation technologies can go beyond its current capabilities and into the realm of speculative tourism.
Speculative tourism entails the provision of means to explore locations that are either too dangerous for actual physical access, environmentally fragile, or cannot be opened let alone explored by conventional methods.
It could be possible that Enterverse technologies could be used to develop immersive environments based on written historical records to give travellers and scholars the chance to get into places like the as-yet unexplored tomb of China's first emperor or mountainous regions where the air is too thin even for the most intrepid explorers.
Indeed, as AStation brings its capabilities to the world, the possibilities for its use are infinite.
For those currently in Singapore for ITB Asia, AStation will be conducting a live proof of concept at 1pm today, 16th October, at L1 of the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
