Birmingham Airport (BHX) has announced its busiest November on record, with 883,056 passengers passing through its terminals in November 2025. This represents a 5.5% increase compared to the same month last year, positioning the airport to potentially reach 14 million passengers by the end of the 2025/26 period. Popular routes included Alicante, Malaga, and Lanzarote.
The surge in passenger numbers has also led to a record year for assisted travel services at the airport. In recognition of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Birmingham Airport highlighted its £3.8 million investment in services for passengers with additional needs. This includes new ambulifts for airside transportation and specialised training for staff.
Birmingham Airport is currently implementing its most ambitious capital investment plan, appointing Arup, a global consultancy, to develop a 15-year Masterplan. This plan aims to accommodate growing passenger numbers whilst enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency. A draft of the Masterplan is expected to be available for public consultation by summer 2026.
Terminal Operations Director Al Titterington expressed enthusiasm about the airport's growth, stating, “We’re delighted to have kickstarted the winter travel season with yet another record month in November for passenger volume with more customers choosing to travel through Birmingham Airport. This marks our ninth record-breaking month this year.”
In November, the airport saw 464,268 arrivals and 418,783 departures. The top five routes were Dublin, Amsterdam, Dubai, Belfast, and Tenerife. Birmingham Airport continues to be a major employer in the West Midlands, supporting 30,900 jobs and contributing $1.5 billion (£1.5 billion) to the regional economy.
