Ruhfar launches to serve $225b halal travel market

Ruhfar Magazine has officially launched from Kuala Lumpur, targeting the burgeoning halal travel market, which is projected to reach $225 billion by 2028. The magazine seeks to address the needs of Muslim women, a demographic that influences over 70% of travel decisions yet remains underserved in the industry.

Ruhfar, described as a multimedia sanctuary, is part of the Muslim Solo Travel movement and focuses on the "Inner State" of modern Muslim women travellers. The magazine's launch coincides with Malaysia's Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative, marking a significant moment for the global halal travel market.

The publication offers three unique perspectives for its audience. Firstly, it highlights the economic power of Muslim women, who are moving beyond basic "halal-friendly" travel options towards more meaningful and intentional travel experiences, termed "Why-cations." Secondly, Ruhfar champions a return to analogue media, promoting the magazine as a tactile tool for intentional discovery, encouraging readers to engage with physical pages and journalling. Lastly, the inaugural issue explores the theme of "Homecoming," focusing on the spiritual journey and the concept of belonging.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief Farihah Awgku Fuaad emphasises the magazine's role in redefining travel for Muslim women. "We explore how intentional discovery—through physical pages and journalling—helps travellers prioritise presence over performance," she stated.

As Ruhfar embarks on this journey, it aims to reshape the narrative around Muslim women in travel, offering them a platform to explore and express their unique travel experiences.
