Turkish Airlines has celebrated a significant milestone with the unveiling of its 500th aircraft, named "TK Family," at Istanbul Airport. This aircraft is adorned with a special livery featuring photographs of the airline's 100,000 employees and retirees, symbolising unity and growth. The event marks the beginning of the airline's 'Second 500' era, as Turkish Airlines aims to expand its fleet to 1,000 aircraft by 2036.
The launch event was attended by Turkish Airlines executives, former senior executives, employees, retirees, and notable figures from the aviation industry. Children of martyrs from all 81 provinces of Tรผrkiye and the cast of the airline's Iฤdฤฑr (When You Dream) commercial were also present, highlighting the airline's commitment to community and heritage.
Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, stated, "Our 500th aircraft represents far more than a new addition to our fleet; it stands as a symbol of 93 years of dedication, determination, and shared vision." He emphasised the airline's growth from 65 aircraft in 2003 to over 500 today, serving 356 destinations across six continents.
The "TK Family" aircraft performed a ceremonial flight, tracing the number 500 in the sky, symbolising the start of the 'Second 500' era. The flight, numbered TK500, included children of martyrs, their families, and Turkish Airlines personnel.
The event also showcased aircraft representing key milestones in the airline's history, including a full-scale replica of its first aircraft.
