TPConnects launches MCP layer for airline access

TPConnects Technologies has unveiled a groundbreaking update to its Iris platform with the introduction of a Model Context Protocol (MCP) aggregation layer. This innovation provides online travel agencies (OTAs), travel management companies (TMCs), and travel sellers with immediate, machine-readable access to more than 60 airlines through a single protocol.

The MCP layer addresses the industry's challenge of fragmented airline content across New Distribution Capability (NDC), Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and low-cost carrier (LCC) channels. By offering a unified, standardised interface, the MCP layer enables automated onboarding of new airlines and self-learning discovery of airline capabilities. This transformation allows travel platforms to access and utilise airline content more efficiently.

Praveen Kumar, Co-founder and CTO at TPConnects, stated, "The travel ecosystem is moving towards AI-driven commerce, conversational booking, and automated agents. MCP provides the structured, machine-readable access needed for these systems to interact with airline capabilities."

The MCP layer enhances Iris's existing infrastructure by transforming airline content into a machine-readable protocol. This ensures consistent data presentation, enabling genuine comparisons and clear customer explanations. As new airlines are added, MCP-reading systems gain instant access, with new content flowing automatically across all connected channels.

The strategic impact of this integration is significant for travel sellers, offering instant content access, accelerated innovation, and self-updating systems. The MCP layer is designed to evolve with industry capabilities, preparing the ecosystem for AI-driven distribution.

TPConnects continues to empower travel sellers with solutions that simplify complexity and accelerate time-to-market, paving the way for the future of travel retailing
