Indonesian travellers showed a marked increase in interest for domestic destinations during the 2026 Labour Day long weekend, according to Agoda's accommodation search data. Surakarta and Puncak emerged as top choices, with Surakarta experiencing a 117% rise in searches and Puncak seeing a 192% increase compared to the previous year. These destinations are favoured for their cultural richness and natural beauty, offering a quick escape from urban life.

Agoda's 2026 Travel Outlook Report highlights a trend towards relaxation-focused trips, with many opting for family-friendly destinations close to home. Yogyakarta, known for its beaches and volcanic hills, saw a 61% increase in interest, whilst Bandung and Malang attracted travellers seeking cooler climates and a mix of city and nature experiences. Bandung's café culture and creative scene, alongside attractions like Tangkuban Perahu, continue to draw visitors, whilst Malang offers access to Mount Bromo and southern coastlines.

Semarang also reported a 60% rise in interest, appealing with its colonial architecture and hillside retreats. Closer to Jakarta, Bogor complemented Puncak's popularity with a 70% increase in searches, thanks to its botanical gardens and vibrant food scene.

Gede Gunawan, Senior Country Director Indonesia at Agoda, noted, "We are seeing a shift toward more intentional trips around long weekends. Indonesian travellers are prioritising destinations that are accessible but still offer a distinct experience." Agoda's platform facilitates these getaways with seamless booking and value deals, including a 21st Birthday Sale offering up to 60% off hotel bookings
