Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), operated by Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports, conducted its biennial full-scale emergency simulation exercise, BEACON2026, on 24 April 2026. This initiative underscores BPIA's dedication to operational readiness, passenger safety, and effective emergency coordination.
The BEACON2026 exercise, themed around local festivities, involved a simulated aeroplane emergency scenario. It tested the coordinated response of BPIA personnel, airline partners, local government units, medical institutions, and national agencies. The exercise aimed to assess the airport's emergency response systems, including Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services, medical response units, and the effectiveness of the Airport Emergency Plan.
BPIA General Manager Aldwin C. Uy emphasised the importance of such drills, stating, “Preparedness is at the core of Bohol-Panglao International Airport’s safety and resilience. Through exercises like BEACON2026, we continuously strengthen our systems, sharpen coordination among stakeholders, and ensure that our teams are capable of responding swiftly and effectively to any emergency scenario.”
The exercise, which did not disrupt regular flight operations, is part of BPIA's compliance with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines standards and international aviation safety protocols. CAAP BPIA Manager Anghelo B. Ibañez highlighted the significance of unified action among stakeholders, ensuring compliance with global aviation standards.
BEACON2026 follows similar initiatives across Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports, reflecting a commitment to safety, resilience, and operational excellence. BPIA continues to strengthen its role as a secure and reliable gateway to Bohol and the Philippines
