Representative ImageInternational travellers are increasingly worried about the affordability and reliability of air travel due to rising jet fuel prices and reduced airline routes, according to a recent Global Rescue SNAP Survey. Conducted between 2 and 14 June 2026, the survey found that nearly 70% of respondents expressed concern over these issues. Despite these worries, destination safety remains the top priority for most travellers.
The survey highlighted that more than half of the respondents, 55%, prioritise destination safety over airline ticket costs or route reductions. However, 27% of travellers consider both safety and costs significant concerns, reflecting the complex risk assessments they now face. An additional 12% indicated that airline costs and route reductions are more significant deterrents than safety concerns.
Dan Richards, CEO of The Global Rescue Companies, noted, "International travellers are facing a convergence of challenges that extends well beyond traditional safety concerns." He emphasised that the decision-making process for travel has become more complex, with travellers evaluating multiple factors simultaneously.
Interestingly, despite record-breaking heatwaves in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, 71% of respondents have not altered their travel plans. Richards observed that travellers are adapting to environmental challenges rather than cancelling trips, suggesting a willingness to manage risks and adjust expectations.
Global Rescue, a leading provider of travel risk management services, conducted the survey among its current and former members to gauge attitudes towards travel safety and global mobility
