The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has joined forces with the Government of Mizoram to enhance hospitality skills and capacity building for tribal tourism. This initiative, discussed in a meeting between ITDC Managing Director Mugdha Sinha and Mizoram's Chief Minister Lalduhoma, aims to support tourism-led livelihood generation in the state.
Under a partnership with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, ITDC, through its hospitality education arm IHM Ashok, is training 1,500 tribal homestay operators across India. The collaboration with Mizoram underscores the importance of skill development in fostering community-based tourism and improving local livelihoods. Mugdha Sinha emphasised, "Capacity building and skill development are essential components of sustainable tourism development."
IHM Ashok continues to bolster the hospitality sector with academic programmes, executive training, and specialised capacity-building initiatives. These efforts are designed to support various stakeholders within the tourism ecosystem.
Admissions for the upcoming academic session at IHM Ashok are now open, offering further opportunities for skill enhancement in the hospitality industry. Established in 1966, ITDC has been pivotal in developing tourism infrastructure in India, diversifying into sectors such as ticketing, event management, and hospitality education
