Virgin Atlantic has announced a new partnership with IMG to offer live sports streaming on its flights via Sport 24, the first live sports channel designed for airline passengers. This service, available on Starlink-equipped aircraft, allows passengers to watch live sports, such as the FIFA World Cup 26, on their personal devices for free by connecting to Virgin Atlantic's high-speed Wi-Fi.

The collaboration comes just in time for a summer filled with sporting events, with over 6,000 hours of live sports, including football, tennis, basketball, and motorsports, available on Sport 24's channels. Sport 24, owned by IMG, is specifically tailored for airline and cruise passengers, enhancing the in-flight entertainment experience.

Virgin Atlantic's Chief Customer Officer, Juha Jaervinen, highlighted the importance of staying connected to live events, stating, "Whether you're travelling for business, heading off on holiday or flying home, nobody likes missing a big sporting moment." Richard Wise, SVP of Content and Channels at IMG, added, "Sport 24 is the market-leading live sport partner in the air and at sea with an unmatched portfolio of live sport."

Currently, one third of Virgin Atlantic's fleet is equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi, with plans for full fleet connectivity by 2027. This initiative is part of Virgin Atlantic's broader strategy to enhance passenger experience and connectivity, ensuring travellers remain engaged and entertained throughout their journey
