Nakornthon Hospital Group in Thailand is slated to transform its current business model into a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem, essentially targeting the emergent silver economy.
By doing so, the healthcare provider seeks to position itself for aggressive growth in the medical tourism sector.
As it marks three decades of operations, Nakornthon Hospital Group moves beyond traditional acute medical care to position itself as a lifelong health partner for its patients and their families.
This shift is designed to capture the growing demand for senior care, wellness, and specialized medical travel in Southeast Asia.
A tripartite structure
The group’s new interconnected healthcare ecosystem is driven by a three-pillar strategy aimed at providing seamless, continuous care:
- Nakornthon Hospital: The flagship 150-bed tertiary facility focuses on complex medical treatments, leveraging advanced technology and multidisciplinary teams specializing in neurology, cardiology, spine conditions, and oncology;
- Nakornthon 2 Hospital (Ekachai-Kanchanaphisek): Opened in late 2025, this facility expands the group’s community footprint and is set to support patients under Thailand’s Social Security Scheme by 2027; and
- Nakornthon Long Life Center by Chersery Home: Scheduled to open later this year, this dedicated senior living and rehabilitation facility embraces an "Active Aging" concept, featuring universal design and personalized physical therapy to cater to the silver economy.
According to Nakornthon’s chairman of the board Yandhet Thongsima: "This transition is not just about increasing the number of hospitals, but about designing a continuous healthcare system—from prevention and treatment to long-term quality of life care.”
Casting an eye on the growing silver economy
With Thailand transitioning into a fully aged society, Nakornthon’s new Long Life Center targets both long-term residents and day-care patients.
According to the Group’s director of medical affairs Dr Siremon Thongsima, the center is strategically positioned to support what it refers to as the sandwich generation: working professionals balancing the care of both young children and aging parents.
In order to do so, it provides holistic, reliable elderly care options, taking much of the stress off by ensuring the delivery of proper care.
An extensive medical tourism portfolio on a global scale
A key pillar of Nakornthon’s roadmap is the aggressive expansion of its international patient market.
Backed by an expansion of its VIP inpatient wards, the group is capitalizing on its established expat base from China and fly-in medical tourists from Myanmar.
Looking ahead, Nakornthon plans to penetrate new international source markets, with Bangladesh identified as a primary target.
To support this international and modern urban demographic, the hospital group is also accelerating its Digital Health transition by introducing digital booking channels, online health package sales, and robust telemedicine services to provide borderless, on-demand health consultations.
By integrating specialized medical travel capabilities, dedicated eldercare, and digital-first health solutions, Nakornthon Hospital Group is positioning itself as a major player to watch in Thailand’s competitive medical tourism and wellness landscape.
